New Years Resolution: Get Organized.

December 30, 2008

get organizedChristmas is over and 2009 is just about here. If you are a small business owner, chances are your New Year’s resolution is to organize and make yourself more efficient. If this is the case, here are a few tips:

1. create a temporary file system that is alway out and in use. File those receipts and that incoming mail as soon as you hit your desk.

2. make a date with your filing system every single week and never be late! I like to do my paperwork Sunday mornings.

3. stay healthy. It is easier to be organized when you are not distracted by aches and pains.

4. part of staying healthy is to be ergonomically organized. Sit on a yoga ball, get a proper keyboard, stand when talking on your wireless headset, etc.

5. Do not eat at your desk. Nothing clutters up a desk faster than food containers and crumbs.

I hope these tips help. They certainly help me to keeo my “get organized and efficient” resolution that I made a couple of years ago.

Ergonomic Tip of The Week: Holiday Shopping

November 26, 2008

holiday shoppingYou might think that wearing wireless headsets and other ergonomic office products is one of the few improvements you can make to your life. In fact, there is a lot that you can do to improve your health and comfort while performing everyday tasks- even at home.

The holidays are just around the corner and you’re ambitiously heading to the stores to purchase gifts for all the people on your list. Before leaving on your shopping expedition, think about wearing comfortable shoes that will support your feet and help you maintain good posture as you brave the crowds. If you are heading to a shopping centre, use the coat check service to take some relief from the weight of your winter jacket.

Now that you’re back home and feeling great about having accomplished your gift shopping, the hard work begins: writing cards and wrapping a mountain of presents. You will be writing, folding, and cutting a lot of wrapping paper, and that can lead to strain and repetitive stress injuries.

Here are some tips to help you with gift wrapping and card writing during the holidays:

  1. Watch for writer’s cramp and repetitive stress injuries to your wrist. Use a pen that does not require much pressure to write and take breaks between batches of cards.
  2. Keep the lighting bright to avoid eye strain.
  3. Use scissors that fit your hand. Children’s scissors are not large enough for you; buy new scissors that fit comfortably. They’ll be nice and sharp, too!
  4. Bend at the knees while picking up large boxes.
  5. Routinely stretch your back and neck; working hunched over at a table can cause strain to your upper body.

Have fun and pace yourself: who says taking breaks can’t come with egg nog?

CS55: Complete Holiday Package

October 31, 2008

The holidays are coming and it is time to start thinking about what gift to give the person who has everything already! We all have a few of those people on our lists.

A gift certificate is too impersonal, a bottle of wine is too “done there been given that” and a puppy is just too inappropriate. We would like to suggest an awesome alternative that is sure to please anyone with a home office. The world’s number one selling headset!

You can purchase a CS55 Complete Headset Kit for under $500!

The CS55 Complete Headset kit has a ton of new features and includes ear hook, headband, handset lifting device, and an online indicator.

The CS55 Complete Headset kit is the perfect gift for the small business owner and / or home office worker. Of course, that does not mean that you cannot get one for other people on your list. I bought one for my mother-in-law. I can write that because she doesn’t read my blog!

;)
