You might think that wearing wireless headsets and other ergonomic office products is one of the few improvements you can make to your life. In fact, there is a lot that you can do to improve your health and comfort while performing everyday tasks- even at home.
The holidays are just around the corner and you’re ambitiously heading to the stores to purchase gifts for all the people on your list. Before leaving on your shopping expedition, think about wearing comfortable shoes that will support your feet and help you maintain good posture as you brave the crowds. If you are heading to a shopping centre, use the coat check service to take some relief from the weight of your winter jacket.
Now that you’re back home and feeling great about having accomplished your gift shopping, the hard work begins: writing cards and wrapping a mountain of presents. You will be writing, folding, and cutting a lot of wrapping paper, and that can lead to strain and repetitive stress injuries.
Here are some tips to help you with gift wrapping and card writing during the holidays:
- Watch for writer’s cramp and repetitive stress injuries to your wrist. Use a pen that does not require much pressure to write and take breaks between batches of cards.
- Keep the lighting bright to avoid eye strain.
- Use scissors that fit your hand. Children’s scissors are not large enough for you; buy new scissors that fit comfortably. They’ll be nice and sharp, too!
- Bend at the knees while picking up large boxes.
- Routinely stretch your back and neck; working hunched over at a table can cause strain to your upper body.
Have fun and pace yourself: who says taking breaks can’t come with egg nog?
